Abstract
Thirty-three individuals with aphasia (11 Broca's, 11 Conduction, and 11 Anomic) and eleven healthy control subjects were studied on a 20-item confrontation naming task. Each naming trial was followed by requests for the superordinate, an in-class coordinate, and other semantic information for each item. All groups were as successful at giving coordinate and semantic information about items as they were at giving the basic level names for the items. Individuals with aphasia provided the superordinate category for pictured items less frequently than they provided other semantic information of inclass coordinates.
