Abstract
A passive digital camera was employed to establish its usefulness in determining real-life communicative need. Two participants with aphasia wore the SenseCam for 7 days. Participants were also asked to keep a diary. The participants came into clinic approximately one week later. They were interviewed about the week in question first using the diary and then the SenseCam images. It was found that for the mildly impaired participant, the SenseCam images provided a better basis for a goal setting conversation. For the severely aphasic individual, using the photo images to establish his (lack of) daily activity was particularly instructive.
