Abstract
Aphasia is associated with changes in communication and well-being. Increased attention has been given to treatment approaches that focus on improving individuals’ functioning in daily activities. The purpose of this investigation was to determine the efficacy of script training in a group setting for improving functional communication and quality of life for patients with aphasia. Results indicated that this treatment was effective for facilitating changes in communication and well-being. Significant changes were found in speaking efficiency for trained scripts and on the two verbal expression instruments used. Furthermore, positive trends on quality of life measures were identified.
