Abstract

The Intensive Residential Aphasia Communication Therapy (InteRACT) program is a 4-
week program that provides 100 hours of communication intervention, plus therapeutic
recreation, and social work services. A frequent communication partner is required to
attend. Up to six persons with aphasia and their communication partners participate in
each program. Preliminary outcome data collected from the first three programs were
analyzed. Findings revealed statistically significant changes in pre- and post-test scores
on the CADL-2 (Holland, Frattali, and Fromm, 1999) and the CETI (Lomas, Pickard,
Bester et al., 1989). Further details on the program, results, and clinical implications will be discussed.
