Abstract

An intervention study examined the relationship between verb lemma and verb arguments to explain the lack of generalisation from verb retrieval to sentence production. The intervention targeted the functional and the positional levels of the sentence production model (Bock & Levelt, 1994). The aim of the study was to determine if the availability of verb arguments facilitated sentence production. Four individuals with chronic aphasia participated in the study. Sentence production improved when verb arguments were provided. However, improvement was not maintained when verb arguments were absent. The results will be discussed in context of a model of sentence production.
