Abstract

A recent trend in aphasia research is to examine the impact cognitive impairments may have on individuals with aphasia. The purpose of the current study was to provide preliminary data on the nature of cognitive impairments for three individuals with aphasia. It was hypothesized that relatively intact EF skills may facilitate compensation and life satisfaction following onset of aphasia. Each individual underwent formal testing of language skills, executive function skills and completed a self-rated quality of life scale. Results revealed interesting relationships between severity of language impairments, severity of executive function impairments and level of participation in daily activities.
